About me

My name is Eugenio Tocchet. I have worked in communications and marketing for forty years – ten as an employee of a major international company, and thirty as the managing director of a communications agency – during which I gained experience in advertising and editorial photography. I have turned my fine-art photographs of the most beautiful places across the five continents into prestigious large-format calendars and modern artwork for private homes, offices and exhibition stands for trade fairs in the furniture, design and heating segments (Salone del Mobile, Milan; Progetto Fuoco, Verona). I am presently running this website that promotes my fine-art photos and prints on cotton canvas or special paper. I also sell pre-framed artwork made to customer’s specific design and size (www.eugeniofotoquadri.com). I have also written two books. One is about selling techniques, published by Tecniche Nuove, Milan, and the other one, published by Amazon Publishing, is an essay-like novel (www.maipercaso.com) that has also inspired my artwork. For ten years I was the Mayor of my home town. Now that I have more free time I am able to devote more time to my passion for art. My modern artwork is ‘painted with a camera’ with meticulous attention to detail, and experiments with different, unique materials and finishes.

Artist statement

I make modern artwork ‘painted with a camera’ and printed on cotton canvas or special paper, often transcending into the apparent abstract, the threads of the invisible. Capturing the sometimes invisible sensational, both micro and macro, found all around us, within us, in nature and in the most common objects is my driving force and motivating energy. I like to observe the works of nature and human beings ‘with different eyes’, discover the often unperceived greatness of existence and capture it in my artwork by going beyond the pure objective and plunging into those threads of the invisible that can only be seen with different eyes. The fluid, shifting, dynamic universe that lives on reverberations becomes the preferential subject of artwork that is only apparently abstract, in which what is micro takes on the significance of what is macro, and images are transformed into perceptions that flow freely from one point of the surface to another. Through the selection of evocative details, a plastic bottle, a rusty sheet of metal or a piece of broken glass become milestones of a meaningful story, invisible at a passing glance, evocative of a different dimension.

Triviality does not exist, except in some of man’s thoughts and actions. Everything is exceptional. Exploring the sensational reality of which we are a part, stretching over billions of light years, fascinates me more than anything else. Works of nature and human beings, seen with different eyes, prompt questions, a host of questions. And answers … threads of the invisible.
